Disaster Services Mass Care at national headquarters has contracted with FoodHandler, Inc., to provide online safe food handling training for American Red Cross Mass Care workers. This Basic Food Safety

This course should be taken by all Mass Care Feeding workers. It will provide a general foundation for safe food handling practices. It includes subjects such as personal hygiene, times and temperatures and cross contamination.

self-study course takes about 60 minutes to complete and includes a 20-question quiz at the end. Participants who successfully complete the quiz with a score of 70 percent or better can print out a completion certificate for their records. The course is available in both English and Spanish.

    Restoring Family Links

    General Focus of the Training

    The Restoring Family Links course and training enables paid and volunteer chapter caseworkers to more effectively deliver international Restoring Family Links casework services to clients who have been separated from family members in other countries by armed conflict, disasters or complex humanitarian emergencies.  The training explains how Restoring Family Links services are global in scope and a core activity of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. Restoring Family Links services include Red Cross Messages (RCMs), Tracing Inquiries, Holocaust and war victims tracing services, information and referral services, and community outreach.

    Course participants will learn the skills and procedures to undertake when initiating Restoring Family Links inquiries, conducting searches for clients in their community, delivering Red Cross Messages and other family news, and also have the opportunity to work with through several case examples.  The coursework and instructor facilitated discussions are supported by videos and interactive activities.

    Participants will become familiar with the use of American Red Cross forms including the Tracing Inquiry form, the Holocaust/WWII Tracing Inquiry form, the Red Cross message form, and with the  service delivery direction and guidance, Restoring Family Links: Direction and Guidance for Chapter Caseworkers.
