A Family Separated by War and Reunited by the Red Cross

Karen Cordova remembers her grandmother, Efrosina, telling her the tragic story of her family’s flight from Ukraine during World War II. Efrosina was heartbroken to leave her family in Ukraine, but  if they had not left, her husband, who was a police officer, most certainly would have been killed.

Reconnect Families Separated by War and Crises

As part of the world’s largest humanitarian network, the American Red Cross alleviates the suffering of victims of war, disaster and other international crises.

Locally, the American Red Cross of Colorado provides tracing and messaging services for families separated by disaster, armed conflict, civil unrest or changing world conditions. Our chapter also provides services in family tracing for the survivors of WWII-related events such as the Holocaust.

As a volunteer with the International Social Services program, you will assist with tracing and communication services to those separated from family members due to war, civil unrest, or natural disaster. You may also assist with Holocaust Tracing Program.
