Leroy Jennings: Volunteer with a Drive to Help Others

Leroy is retired. He loves to golf. But after a couple of months of having all day to do the thing he loves, he found himself bored with it and wanting to do more. So he began volunteering with the Red Cross, and six years later he continues to head to the Red Cross Mile High Chapter two days a week and hop into the shiny, new, fuel-efficient Red Cross Toyota Prius waiting in the parking lot....

The Generous Men and Women Who Donate Their Time, Passion and Expertise Are the Life-Blood of the Red Cross.

The American Red Cross is a volunteer-led organization. In fact, 70% of our staff are volunteers who are not compensated. Our volunteers serve Colorado communities indiscriminately daily, assisting the seniors, our military families, survivors of blizzards and home fires and first responders at the scene of an emergency. Red Cross volunteers train those who watch over our families in life-saving techniques such as CPR for lifeguards and First Aide for certified babysitters. And, Red Cross volunteers come to our rescue in times of great need and unthinkable disaster – without fail.

Elena Donahue

Fundraiser of the Year is not an easy award to win, but Elena Donahue’s commitment to the Mile High Chapter as a Board member, multi-faceted volunteer, and as a creative and innovative fundraiser is remarkable.

Tina Porter

Back in July 2007, a young woman came into the Mile High Chapter looking to help people and work with kids. Since Tina Porter began her volunteer efforts for the Red Cross, there have been a lot more hugs all around at our chapter....

Jerry and Helga Bell

For their years and countless hours of dedication to our chapter’s programs, both Helga and Jerry Bell were awarded the Honor Roll citation at the annual recognition dinner. Partly because of the Bells’ efforts, West Disaster Action Team (DAT) has certainly become one of the most organized and self-sufficient of all the teams.

Paul Jacobs

The recipient of the Red Cross Mile High Exemplary Volunteer Award for 2009, Paul Jacobs, is a stand-out volunteer, always going that extra mile for Transportation clients.

Paul has been a committed Red Cross volunteer for the past 10 years, donating well over 5000 hours of his time.
